Omya Australia Pty Limited is 100% owned by Omya AG, the world’s
largest and most experienced producer of ground calcium carbonates
(GCC). The company operates three limestone quarries and four mineral
processing plants producing in excess of 500,000 tonnes per annum
of calcium carbonate products within Australia.
The technology used in the Australian plants
is from Omya AG, a privately owned company based in Oftringen, Switzerland.
The company was founded in 1884, and now has over 100 manufacturing
plants in Europe, North America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
The company has focused on the development of high quality processing
and application technology for calcium carbonate, and is a world
leader in this field.
Omya Australia employs over 100 people and has
processing plants in Bathurst, Moss Vale, Bajool, and most recently
a state of the art plant in Geelong. Omya Australia has developed
a reputation in relation to its quarry sites and processing plants
for being proactive in environmental matters and setting an outstanding
example to others in the mineral processing industry.
Omya Australia's head office is in Sydney, and
in addition there are sales offices and warehouses in Brisbane,
Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. The sales staff are technically qualified
personnel with backgrounds in the plastics, surface coatings and
minerals industries.
