OMYA AUSTRALIA’S, GUIL NORTH RECEIVES
AUSTRALIA DAY CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD
January, 2002

Local resident and Manager of the Omya Australia Bajool plant in central Queensland, Guil North, is Fitzroy Shire’s Australia Day Citizen of the Year for his dedication and involvement in his local community of Bajool.

Guil was presented the award by Mayor Cr Don Close.

He has given freely of his time to support local activities and has been prepared to use his many skills and private equipment in a voluntary manner to improve the community’s facilities and lifestyle.

In the article printed in the Fitzroy Shire Newslink of February 2002, Mayor Cr Don Close was quoted as having described Guil as “the quiet achiever of the Bajool community, only too happy to lend a hand to anyone who requires it”
