AT OUR BATHURST QUARRY
September, 2000
A Bathurst district mining and quarrying company is proving that industry can operate to achieve high environmental standards.
The Omya quarry, 24 kilometres from Bathurst provides material for the plant that is processed for domestic and export markets.
As a requirement of Omyas operations the company is expected to prepare an annual report for the purpose of environmental monitoring, copies of which have to be furnished to consent authorities.
One of the authorities Evans Shire Council has been told the high grade calcium carbonate quarry has conformed with the conditions of consent and environmental guidelines.
