BATHURST HISTORICAL SOCIETY VISITS ORTON PARK HOUSE
October, 1999
Orton Park House is a heritage building adjacent
to Omya's Bathurst Plant. Orton Park House dates back to around
1825 when the Lane family, immigrants from Cornwall, settled on
the site. Between 1825 and 1890 the Lanes and subsequently the McPhillamy
family developed Orton Park House and associated buildings into
what is today an excellent example of a building reflecting the
Georgian and Victorian era. Omya purchased Orton Park House in 1995
and it now houses offices for Omya's Operations Management for Australia
and New Zealand and Engineering offices for Omya's Asia Pacific
Engineering Hub.

On Sunday 17th October 1999 an open day was conducted to enable members of Bathurst's Historical Society to inspect the buildings and grounds and to view some of the historical information collected by Omya staff. The Society was complimentary about Omya's approach of conserving the heritage values of the building so that this significant building in Bathurst's history will be conserved for future generations.
